When people are freezing to death in the winter because they can't afford to turn their heating on, will the media still be tormenting us with stories about those 2 [TWO!] hot days in July?

Or should this post go in the CovAIDs/Global warming thread?

Or the Ukraine/Putin one?

Or the BoJo leaving for none of the many real crimes he actually committed while in office thread?

Either way, just wear a mask!

Why was the UK infrastructure unprepared for this?

It's not like they've had no warning - or do they feel it's 100% down to the taxpayer to sort out?

Goose - most of the big Bush fires in oz are started by careless people. They're well educated about it there, yesterday would have been a fire ban day, no bbq etc.

Probably someone tossing a fag butt out of their window, see it happening all the time.

Higher temperatures = more fires = need more people to fight them
Probably need to stop making rail lines and road surfaces out of plasticine in future as more of this is coming

10-15 years ago 30 degrees was an exceptionally hot day in London .... if you'd said then that the city would see 40 degrees it would have been deemed CRAZY TALK

Dave Walton, deputy chief fire officer for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, said Tuesday was a "peek into the future" amid huge demand for firefighters.

"Today was about climate change, the hottest UK day on record - ever!"

Just put out fires mate and leave your views at the station. Pathetic comments from someone whose job it is too put out fires and not give lectures on the planet. Sky, however, loved his comment.

Once, almost all of the bits of of London East of the Lea and North of the Thames were in Essex.

Re: UK to be hit by life-threatening 100F heatwave on Sunday:
Rainham is a suburb of East London, England, in the London Borough of Havering.[2] Rainham is 13.6 miles (21.9 km) east of Charing Cross[2] and is surrounded by a residential area, which has grown from the historic village, to the north and a commercial area, fronting the River Thames, to the south.

Historically part of the ancient parish of Chafford in Essex, as part of the suburban growth of London in the 20th century, Rainham significantly expanded and increased in population, becoming part of Hornchurch Urban District in 1934, and has formed part of Greater London since 1965.

Ah, life is too complicated for the likes of you Browno.

Rainham can have an Essex postal code and be in London too,

I know it's hard. Perhaps you can get an educational specialist to explain it to you.

Re: UK to be hit by life-threatening 100F heatwave on Sunday:
Rainham is in the LONDON Borough of Havering.

It isn't West London, it isn't South London, it isn't North London and, when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.

(No shit, Sherlock...)
